Thank you for this Mikael. Really enjoyed this piece and the YouTube series. Here in Adelaide Australia, our central square and one of the focal points of the city is mutilated by a diamond shaped 6 to 8 lane highway running right through the middle of the city. It’s curved of course to allow cars to speed through, but the thousands of pedestrians trying to use the grass or cross to visit the nearby markets and shops have to wait. There’s a tram and some bus lanes, which is great, but only space for a painted on bike lane, which stops abruptly at the north end. City planners in the sixties cared more about how fast people could get through the city, rather than how they might enjoy it when they step out of their cars.
